Campbeltown

A whisky-producing region on the Kintyre Peninsula in Scotland. Once home to over 30 distilleries; now three remain active: Springbank, Glen Scotia, and Glengyle.

Cask Strength

Whisky bottled at the ABV at which it exits the cask, without dilution. Typically 55–65% ABV. Allows consumers to add their own water to preference.

Coffey Still

A type of continuous column still patented by Aeneas Coffey in 1831. Used in the production of grain whisky and many blended Scotches. More efficient than pot stills.

Congeners

Chemical compounds other than ethanol formed during fermentation and distillation, including esters, acids, and aldehydes, that contribute to flavour and aroma.
