Another great event by Ottawa Whiskey

blank

Last week I had the pleasure of hosting a whiskey tasting event for a prestigious retirement residence here in the nation’s capital.

At these events I am constantly reminded of the great power that whiskey has of bringing a diverse crowd of people together in the common interest of whiskey and fellowship.

I met people who used to live in Scotland and worked in distilleries, met some who have never tried whiskey before that day, and quite a few who were excited to get together and talk about their love for whiskey. I even met one who tasted the first whiskey and politely left because it wasn’t ‘his sort of thing’. One of the residents proudly declared that this was the best whiskey tasting event he had ever attended. While I am not sure about that, I was quite proud that he thought so.

The whiskey I chose for the event wasn’t the most expensive or exciting, but they brought great conversation, some interesting storytelling, and an enjoyable afternoon with newly made friends.

It made me miss my own grandparents and all the storytelling and great conversations I used to have with them. For those of you who still have parents / grandparents still with us, pick up your favorite dram and go for a visit. You will get as much out of it as they will.

Thank you to Amica for allowing me to be part of this great afternoon. I look forward to the next one!
