The team dinner has its place. So does the holiday party, the summer barbecue, the afternoon at an axe-throwing venue. But if you’ve done all of those and you’re looking for something that actually gets people talking — a guided whisky tasting is worth serious consideration.
Ottawa companies have been discovering this, and the response is consistently the same: when do we do the next one?
What makes it different
A whisky tasting isn’t passive. It’s not sitting through a presentation or watching something happen. It’s participatory — everyone is tasting, comparing, forming opinions, and sharing them.
That kind of shared, slightly unfamiliar experience is exactly what breaks down the professional distance that tends to define workplace relationships. By the second pour, people are debating whether the Islay Scotch is too smoky or perfectly smoky. By the fourth, conversations have wandered somewhere genuinely interesting.
It also scales well. Intimate sessions work for leadership teams of eight or ten. Larger events work for client appreciation evenings, department celebrations, or company-wide milestones.
The credentials behind the experience
Every corporate tasting is led by Chris — a Certified Scotch Professional and Certified Whisky Specialist recognized by the Council of Whisky Masters, and Smart Serve certified to serve alcohol responsibly across Ontario.
That means your event is in the hands of someone with formal expertise, not just enthusiasm. The education component is real, the curation is thoughtful, and the experience is professionally managed from start to finish.
What a corporate tasting looks like
We work with you to understand your group — their experience level with whisky, the tone you’re going for, the occasion you’re marking. From there, we build a session around your goals.
A typical corporate tasting features three to five whiskies, chosen to create a journey. That might be a tour of Scotland’s whisky regions, a world tour touching Ireland, Japan, Canada, and Kentucky, or a focused deep-dive into a particular style. Glassware and setup are included. The venue is yours to choose — we come to you.
Group sizes from ten to sixty work well for corporate events. Above sixty, we move to custom pricing and a more event-style format.
What clients have said
“Chris took our guests on a tour through Japan, Ireland, Thailand, and Canada, pairing each whisky with a course designed by our chef. Tickets were not cheap and no one batted an eye. Every single person who attended our previous event came back, and brought new friends.”
