Scapa Distillery, located on the Orkney Islands off the northeastern coast of Scotland, is renowned for its unique single malt whisky. Established in 1885, the distillery is perched on a clifftop overlooking the serene Scapa Flow, a natural harbor with a rich maritime history.
The distillery uses traditional methods to produce its whisky, including a rare Lomond still, which contributes to the distinctive smooth and creamy character of Scapa whisky. The water used in production is sourced from the Orquil Springs, and the whisky matures in American oak casks, which impart vanilla and honey flavors.
One of the latest highlights of Scapa Distillery is the opening of the Scapa Noust tasting room in April 2023. Designed to reflect Orkney’s maritime heritage, the tasting room offers an immersive experience with views of Scapa Flow through floor-to-ceiling windows. The interior features nautical design elements, including a central hand-carved table and a ceiling styled like a traditional fishing boat.
