You know the feeling. You want to give someone something they’ll actually remember — not another bottle that gets opened eventually, not a gift card that sits in a wallet. Something that requires no assembly, produces no clutter, and creates a genuine memory.
A private whisky tasting experience in Ottawa does exactly that.
Why an experience beats a bottle
A great bottle of whisky is a wonderful gift. But it gets consumed, and then it’s gone. The bottle goes in the recycling. The memory, if there is one, fades.
A guided tasting experience is different. It’s an evening — an event — that the recipient will talk about afterward. They’ll remember what they tasted, what they learned, who they were with. That kind of gift has a staying power that no bottle can match.
What the experience includes
A gift tasting from Ottawa Whisky is a fully guided private session, led by Chris — a Certified Scotch Professional and Certified Whisky Specialist recognized by the Council of Whisky Masters.
The recipient chooses the date and the guest list. We handle everything else: the whisky selection, the glassware, the setup, the education. Three to five whiskies, chosen to tell a story, with tasting notes and context for every pour.
It can be intimate — just the two of them, or a small group of close friends. Or it can be a proper occasion: a birthday, a retirement, a milestone worth marking. Either way, it’s a genuinely special evening.
Who is it for?
The obvious answer is the whisky lover in your life — the one who already has an opinion on Speyside versus Islay, or who can tell you exactly why they prefer a particular distillery.
But honestly? Some of our most enthusiastic guests are people who barely drink whisky at all. A good guided tasting has a way of converting the curious. More than a few people have told us afterward that they never expected to enjoy whisky — and now they can’t stop thinking about it.
How to book a gift experience
Get in touch and tell us a little about who the gift is for and what kind of experience you have in mind. We’ll confirm the details and arrange everything. You’ll receive a confirmation you can present as the gift itself — they redeem it at a date and time that works for them.
It’s one of the most thoughtful, most memorable things you can give someone in Ottawa. And it requires zero wrapping paper.
